A tiny cry out for help in the middle of the night.

Last night, in the wee hours of the morning, I heard a faint cry of a puppy. When my assistant, Rafaela, came in the morning to help feed the dogs, I asked her if she heard the puppy crying. She lives on the ranch in a house I gave her next to the main house.  She said she did not hear anything.

After we fed all the dogs properly, we went to the cane fields to look where I thought the sound came from. I closed my eyes and silently asked archangel Ariel to lead my way. I walked with my eyes closed to give full control to angel Ariel with complete confidence and stopped at a spot before a hole. 

I told Rafaela we were at the correct spot. Then, we heard the puppy cry out from the hole where it had fallen in. It was not too deep for me to go in and pull the puppy out, but the puppy would not be able to climb out on his own and would have just eventually died of starvation or been eaten by a wild animal or snake.

Here is a photo of a pup we named Paluchi. He is on an embroidered pillow given to me by a gentle old man who died a few months ago. He has a new collar to identify that he is being cared for. He ate his fill of puppy chow, drank tons of water, and fell asleep on his new pillow. There are few things more wonderful than a new puppy at Christmas.
